Final Project part two: The project I consider the most worthy of my time and effort, is by far, without a doubt, the multigenre multi media research project. Although the title is terribly long and quite mundane, the project was absolutely the most entertaining and fulfilling. I chose to do my research project on everything screenwriting, more specifically the intertwining of words and film and the necessity of adaptation, with respect to the writer’s life. In the future I plan on becoming a screenwriter. So, it was pleasant being able to create a project about a topic I really love. First I wrote an original poem called “Range of Correctness,” explaining the rules to the art of screenwriting. Some of which were new to me! For my second genre I chose to write a news article about the screenplay Juno. This was quite interesting for me as I did research on Diablo Cody because her background does not suggest award winning screenwriter, so more power to her! Following the article is an interview of two very own up coming screenwriters. Two of my friends who have graduated from AMDA (American Music and Dramatic Academy) were kind enough to allow me to ask them questions about their personal work to get a sense of what this type of writing is all about. Lastly, they gave advice for aspiring writers. The questions were ones I was pondering after reading some screenplays that they’ve written and so to have the opportunity to see how their ideas come about and sort of get inside their head was a great experience. Finally for my last genre I took a stab at writing my own screenplay. This is called Annie’s Room and I actually adapted it from a short story I had written prior to the genre assignment. In conclusion completing this project was fantastic and it re-stimulates my drive to pursue my dream.
